To ensure you find the perfect northeast Ohio wedding photographer who can capture the essence and emotion of your special day, it’s crucial to ask them the right questions during the hiring process. Aside from the obvious (cost, style, availability) there are plenty of things to consider when choosing a photographer. In this blog post, we’ll discuss some must-ask questions to help you find the perfect wedding photographer!
Will you be the photographer that photographs my wedding?
Something to consider is that the person you speak to may not be the one that photographs your wedding. While it’s not super common with small businesses, there is a potential that they may have associate photographers. It’s important to build a rapport with whoever will be there on your wedding day! Nothing is worse than trying to be comfortable in front of a camera in front of a stranger.
Can you go into detail about what is included in your packages?
It’s important to be on the same page with what is included in your wedding package. Some photographers offer all of the images from the day, while some put a limit on the number you will receive. Are the print release and digital images included, or will there be an additional cost? Knowing these details upfront will ensure that there are no surprises.
What is your backup plan in case of an emergency?
I think of all of the questions you can ask a photographer, the most important question is what their backup plan is. For the day of, for file storing, and everything in between. A professional photographer will have plans in place for any situation from start to finish. It is important to have a plan for the day of so in case of an emergency they have a replacement. It should not be up to you to scramble to find a photographer the day of your wedding.
On the day of, they should have a plan in place for equipment failure. As wonderful as technology is, it will always fail us when it is the most inconvenient. It is VITAL that your photographer has backups in place for their equipment; multiple camera bodies, a camera that has dual card slots and extra batteries, cards, etc.
After the wedding, how will your photographer handle the files? Do they have cloud storage or back them up to multiple places? With how readily available storage options are, there is quite literally no excuse to lose files. You never want to get the call that your files have been lost.
I don’t have to tell you that there is no redo for your wedding day. Asking these questions, will help further your research of your wedding day professional and ensure that you have the best photographer experience possible!
